Work In Context / For workers
When work affects your wellbeing.
Psychological injury, hidden disability and burnout can affect much more than your working day. We help you explore practical support for work and everyday life, including difficulties and effort that other people may not see.
Support enquiries are welcome before, during or after a claim. Mobile visits in Sydney and South West Sydney; telehealth enquiries across Australia. Suitability and clinician capacity are confirmed before booking.
Support for work and life outside it.
Our occupational therapists look at how work, health and everyday life affect each other. We listen to what matters to you, whether that is staying at work, returning after time away, or having enough energy left for life at home.
Our experience includes workplace services involving psychological injury claims, psychosocial disability and neurodivergence. We make room to discuss concentration, confidence, sensory demands, changing capacity and the recovery needed after work.
Our team brings several years of experience in workers compensation, workplace assessments and injury management. Depending on your needs, we can help you:
You do not need to have all the answers before getting in touch. We confirm what we can offer, who will provide it, fees and any funding approval needed before appointments are arranged.

NSW scheme overview · Reviewed 30 October 2026. Different rules apply in other states and schemes.
There is no single impairment percentage that decides whether you can lodge a claim or receive initial support. Claim eligibility and thresholds for longer term benefits are separate questions.
Eligibility and the claim pathway
For primary psychological injuries first notified to an employer from 1 July 2026, the injury must arise from an event recognised by the law, have a direct connection with employment, and have work as its main contributing factor. Examples include bullying, harassment, excessive work demands and exposure to traumatic events. Legal definitions and exclusions, including reasonable management action, matter.
The process also depends on what caused the injury. Bullying, racial or sexual harassment and excessive work demands have a specific claim process. Ask your insurer or an independent adviser which pathway applies.

What the impairment thresholds mean
Whole person impairment (WPI) is a formal assessment of lasting impairment. It is not a self-rating or a measure of whether your experience matters.
The extended-benefit and damages thresholds rise for injuries notified from July 2027 and again from July 2029. Treatment funding has separate rules and time limits. Get advice about your notification date and entitlements before relying on a percentage.

Do these changes apply to everyone?
No. Earlier notifications generally remain under previous arrangements. The primary psychological injury changes do not apply to secondary psychological injuries arising from a physical injury, or to certain groups including police officers, paramedics, firefighters, coal miners and volunteers.
Ask your insurer or an independent workers compensation lawyer to check the rules for your circumstances. This page is general information, not a decision about your eligibility or legal advice.
If a claim is uncertain, declined or ending.
A claim decision does not make the impact on your life any less real. There may be other ways to access care or advice. These are separate pathways, each with its own eligibility, costs and scope.
Care and practical support
A GP can assess your health needs and discuss treatment, referrals and any Medicare options. An employer’s Employee Assistance Program, public or community mental health services, private health cover or self-funded therapy may also be worth exploring.
Medicare rebates depend on the referral, service and practitioner’s eligibility. Private health benefits depend on your policy. We confirm fees and any available funding before you book; an enquiry does not commit you to paid therapy.

Questions about a claim or a workplace concern
You can ask your insurer to explain a decision and seek advice about review options. The Independent Review Office’s ILARS scheme can fund advice from approved lawyers for eligible workers compensation matters. A union or independent lawyer can also advise on relevant workplace rights. Time limits may apply, so seek advice promptly.
Find independent workers compensation legal assistance
Employers still have duties to manage psychosocial risks. Those duties are separate from whether an individual compensation claim is accepted. If safe and appropriate, raise concerns through your workplace’s reporting arrangements. SafeWork NSW provides information and options for unresolved safety concerns.
Clear roles that respect your privacy.
In Context works with both employers and individuals. Before support begins, we explain who has engaged us, our role, what information may need to be shared and the consent arrangements. If we already work with your employer, we check whether it is appropriate for us to support you.
Our role is clinical and practical guidance. We do not provide legal representation or decide claim entitlements. Where you need independent legal, union or regulatory advice, we help identify the appropriate pathway.
How we handle consent and personal informationStart with what you need now.
You can tell us that work has become difficult, that you are unsure about support, or that you want help thinking through your next step. A brief enquiry and your preferred way to hear back are enough. You do not need to share a diagnosis, claim documents or a detailed history.
Email opens a draft to info@incontext.au. Please keep health records out of ordinary email; the therapy intake provides a separate route for relevant personal information. Email or text based communication is welcome. No phone or video call is required to make an initial enquiry.
