Functional capacity assessments
in Sydney.

Occupational therapy functional capacity assessments (FCAs) with a focus on hidden disabilities, including psychosocial disability and neurodivergent support needs. We look at everyday function, fluctuating capacity and the support behind what a person can do, for NDIS and other disability support enquiries.

Sydney and South West Sydney. Appointment format, clinician suitability and availability confirmed before booking.

A clearer picture
of everyday life.

An OT functional capacity assessment explores daily activities and support needs, including communication, learning, mobility, self care, self management and social interaction. We consider strengths and surroundings across home, school, community or work.

An NDIS functional capacity assessment may provide evidence about disability related support needs for planning or when circumstances change. An FCA is not required for every NDIS application. Individuals, families and support coordinators can enquire.

An FCA does not guarantee NDIS access or funding. We first discuss whether this assessment fits your purpose.

An assessment that considers
the effort behind the task.

Managing a task once may not show the effort, prompting or recovery it takes. We ask about routines, sensory demands, getting started, social expectations and changes in capacity across different days. For children, we also consider play, learning and family routines, with the child’s voice included in an age appropriate way.

We consider what is manageable consistently, the help already in place and what happens when that help is unavailable. A good day, a completed task or an articulate conversation may not show the full picture. The report explains the evidence, the impact on everyday activities and the basis for recommendations.

Our assessment approach combines research informed OT models, clinical reasoning and the participant’s everyday context. We can draw on information from support coordinators and local area coordinators (LACs), where relevant and with consent. You can start by email or text, bring notes and discuss having a support person involved.

Three clear steps.

  1. Agree the scope

Discuss the purpose, relevant background and your communication preferences. We confirm fees, appointment arrangements and the expected report timeframe.

  2. Explore everyday function

Your OT gathers information through discussion and appropriate assessment methods. With your consent, this may include relevant records and input from people who support you.

  3. Receive your report

The report brings together findings, functional impacts, support needs and recommendations within the agreed scope. We explain who it will be shared with and discuss next steps.

Fees, funding and appointment options

The cost depends on assessment time, report preparation and any agreed travel or additional work. We provide a quote before you commit. Funding arrangements and eligibility must be confirmed for your circumstances.

We welcome enquiries from Liverpool, Campbelltown, Oran Park and the wider Sydney region. In person arrangements and whether telehealth is suitable depend on the assessment required.

What should I prepare?

A brief explanation of what you need is enough to enquire. You do not need to organise every document first. We will explain what information is relevant and how to provide it securely.
